MUSEUM MANAGEMENT

CESMA’s museum management activities began in 2004 as a natural consequence of its art conservation and archaeology educational programs.  CESMA now manages two museums in the Piedmont Region of Italy in partnership with Arkaia, a leading private Italian archaeology company that excavated and restored the museums' artifacts. Museo Archeologico del Canavese, housed in the same restored manufacturing building as CESMA's degree programs, contains findings from throughout the Canavese area of Piedmont ranging from the times of pre-historic man until the modern age. Museo Archeologico Chiomonte La Maddalena in Valle de Susa - the valley in the Alps that hosted the 2006 Winter Olympic Games - is an indoor/outdoor museum containing artifacts from a prehistoric village discovered during the construction of a major highway crossing the Alps into France.

Through the museums, CESMA manages many didactical programs for schools throughout the region teaching students about the history and the culture of the area. CESMA also hosts temporary art and cultural exhibitions at both facilities at various times throughout the year.
